This course will provide you with a well-rounded base knowledge of the main building trades.
Course description
This course will provide you with an opportunity to progress your skills in a range of construction craft occupations. Most of your time will be spent in our bright, well-equipped workshops where you will practice using tools in a range of trades such as carpentry and joinery, brickwork, painting and decorating and plumbing.
This course is regarded as a pre-apprenticeship programme.
What you will experience
- Construction skills in plumbing (Altens Campus only), bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, and painting and decorating
- Health and safety awareness
- Preparation for applying for full apprenticeships
Entry requirements
- There are no formal entry requirements
- We are looking for bright, enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are good team players
- You should enjoy working with tools in a workshop environment
- Some evidence of interest in construction crafts or having a Skills for Work (Construction) qualification could be an advantage
- You will also be given an aptitude test at interview.
