Course overview

The HND 3D Design course is a forward-thinking and innovative course that provides an advanced design education for students with a strong interest in the specialist areas of 3D design practice. Responding to industry-focused design briefs you will gain essential skills and knowledge of the 3D design industry to support advanced progression onto Degree level study or employment in the fields of 3D Design, Interior, spatial, product or exhibition design.

You will benefit from working in our dedicated 3D Design studios and MacLabs to develop advanced skills in specialist software, technical drawing, sketchbook and model making to explore your ideas and concepts whilst investigating historical and contemporary Designer's work to contextualise and critically evaluate your work. You will use research to synthesise information relevant to 3D Design activity to develop and evaluate design proposals and solutions from conception to final production drawings and 3D work.

Design thinking and the design process underpin the course giving you the skills relating to a range of spatial and built environments to produce successful design outcomes to a high standard using specialist materials, techniques, professional requirements and regulations.

Entry requirements

Year one: Minimum of two Highers, UAL Level 3 or Foundation Diploma or SQA NC at SCQF Level 6
Year two: pass all 15 credits available at HNC Level
You must submit a portfolio that demonstrates your advanced art and design skills and an understanding of the creative process
Adult learners with relevant employment/life experience/skills will be considered for entry to this course
